nightstand makeover
I’ve had these white nightstands from IKEA in my bedroom for about 2 years. I wanted different color nightstands and let’s be honest bedroom furniture can be very expensive. We’ll eventually invest in new bedroom furniture but not right now.
While scrolling through my fed I happened to run into an add of how to transform your furniture to look a like wood from “Retique it” and I absolutely loved it. Ratings were amazing and the price was right under $60 to paint my nightstands..so I ordered this Smooth Wood’n Kit in the color “Pecan”.
I knew the Color “Pecan” was going to be perfect. Trust me, it was so hard to pick..they have a large selection and you can choose the size of the kit according to the size of your furniture and I got the medium size and it worked out perfect. The color contrast against my soft gray headboard looked absolutely Gorgeous!
The instruction were so easy . It did take me 2 days to finish both nightstands because with a toddler running around was going to be impossible to finish both in one day lol. So I started with the Primer let it dry for 2 hours and did another Primer let it dry again for another 2 hours.I was amazed how much coverage it had with just the primer.
After both coat of primer dried, I started to stain the nightstand . I started with a brush but then grabbed a cotton cloth and i felt that it worked better . I was already loving the first coast. I let it dry for 2 hours.
Here’s how it looked on the second coat of the wood’n stain gel. Not much of a difference but I did notice the difference when it was drying.
I’m so happy hoe the nightstands turned out. I did want to stay on a budget and im so glad I did. Stay tuned because next will be the Dresser!!
